The Cisco Meraki MV23X is a third-generation smart indoor dome camera that combines physical security and advanced AI-powered analytics in a compact varifocal form factor. Featuring a 1/2.8" 8.41MP progressive CMOS sensor and a motorised 3.0–9.0 mm varifocal lens, the MV23X delivers stunning 4K (3840×2160) video at up to 15 fps — giving security teams the level of detail they need to stay on top of what matters. Built-in IR illuminators provide clear night-vision coverage up to 30 m (98 ft), while High Dynamic Range (HDR) ensures excellent image quality across challenging lighting conditions. The camera's compact dome design is suitable for ceiling, wall, or corner-mount installations, making it ideal for monitoring entrances, exits, lobbies, and large open spaces.
The MV23X is powered by Meraki's cloud-augmented edge architecture: 1 TB of on-board high-endurance SSD storage keeps video locally on the camera, while metadata is synchronised to the Meraki cloud — eliminating the need for NVRs, VMS servers, or complex on-premises infrastructure. Smart Retention automatically optimises storage usage through intelligent scheduling, and full disk encryption (AES 256-bit) ensures footage remains private. Machine-learning-based computer vision runs entirely on the camera's onboard processor, enabling real-time object detection, people counting, motion heatmaps, motion recap, and AI-powered Attribute Search — all without additional servers or software licences.

Managed entirely through the Meraki Dashboard, the MV23X requires no dedicated software installation. Administrators benefit from network-wide camera visibility, role-based access control, drag-and-drop video walls, clip sharing, and remote live or historical video streaming — all from any browser or the Meraki mobile app. The camera supports 802.11ac wireless connectivity for flexible deployment, and optional 12 VDC / 24 VAC terminal power input where PoE is unavailable. A Meraki MV Enterprise licence is required to activate and operate the camera and is sold separately (LIC-MV-XYR, available in 1, 3, 5, 7, or 10-year terms).
