The Cisco Meraki MV53X is the first varifocal bullet camera in the third-generation Meraki MV smart camera family. Designed for demanding outdoor environments, it combines a high-resolution 1/1.8" 8.41MP progressive CMOS sensor delivering true 4K (3840×2160) video with a motorised 12–37° varifocal lens and 3× optical zoom — making it ideal for long-range monitoring of parking lots, warehouses, security checkpoints, and perimeters where capturing fine detail at distance is critical. Built-in IR illuminators extend effective night vision up to 50 m (149 ft), while H.264 Smart Codec encoding optimises storage and bandwidth without sacrificing image quality.

Edge storage sits at the heart of the MV53X's architecture. A 1 TB high-endurance solid-state drive is integrated directly into the camera, eliminating the need for costly NVRs or dedicated servers. Video is recorded locally with metadata synchronised to the Meraki cloud, enabling cloud-augmented edge storage with flexible, motion-based or scheduled retention settings. Live and recorded footage can be streamed directly in a native browser with no client software required, and automatic cloud-proxy routing ensures access from anywhere. High dynamic range (HDR) support ensures excellent image quality in challenging mixed-lighting conditions.

Powerful onboard AI analytics are built in as standard. The MV53X supports motion search, motion recap, motion heatmaps, Attribute Search, Line Crossing, Area Occupancy, MV Sense, and custom computer-vision models — enabling intelligent person and vehicle detection without additional processing hardware. All management is handled through the Meraki dashboard, offering role-based access control, detailed export logs, and seamless integration via open APIs. The camera is rated IP67 for weather resistance and IK10+ for vandal resistance, and operates across a wide temperature range of −40°C to 50°C. Power is supplied via 802.3at PoE+ (30 W required).

The MV53X ships with a 5-year hardware warranty with advanced replacement. Please note that a Cisco Meraki MV Enterprise licence (sold separately) is required for cloud management and full feature access — available in 1, 3, 5, 7, and 10-year terms (LIC-MV-XYR).
